Unlike other tofu, Makini’s is not just white blocks dipped in marinade. It has a depth of flavor that’s more pronounced and integrated throughout.

Flavor is sealed in, because every batch is cooked ahead in our stovetop kettles or smoker.

Less food waste
Even the package size makes more sense.
Makini’s Tofu leaves our warehouse frozen, arrives frozen, and can stay frozen for up to one year. It slacks beautifully in the refrigerator (in four hours), and unlike other proteins, can go back and forth between freezer/fridge. We also package our tofu in more a usable size for commercial kitchens (12-oz blocks.) Bonus points for less waste!
Who’s behind Makini’s? Makini!
Created by a chef with 20 years in the restaurant industry.
Makini Howell grew up helping her vegan Baba in the kitchen, learning which herbs and spices make the most flavorful blends – which is why a few are named in his honor! She spent 20 years running the vegan favorite, Plum Bistro in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, and authored two cookbooks before launching Makini’s Tofu.
